OHM II - Green
The OHM II is Edelrid’s second-generation assisted-braking resistor updated to be far easier to use and more successful in safety and efficiency features, particularly in the case where there are significant weight differences between the lead climber and the belayer. The OHM II’s braking effect has been improved for these instances with a swivel joint that improves the devices moveability, which further means that the clipping direction no longer matters when the device is attached to the first bolt.
With far less forces exerted on a belayer by the device, this allows for weight imbalances within climbing teams to be overcome, providing enhanced safety during a fall by braking the rope in increments rather than abruptly, preventing the belayer from pulled upwards or towards the wall so they can control or catch the fall. The locking system has been implemented not only to prevent accidental openings, but also to make it much easier to insert rope and remove the device once the climb is over. A valuable safety and efficiency addition to your climbing regime, the updated OHM II is an innovative device designed to enhance you and your team’s climbing experience.
Features:
- Far lower forces exerted on the belayer
- Lowering a heavier person in a controlled manner is far easier
- OHM II is attached at the first bolt in the safety chain
- The device reduces the risk of a collision when falling on the first bolt
- Rope handling when belaying a lead climber is not affected (no additional friction when paying out rope)
- Increased friction in the safety chain, no matter what belay device is used
- In the event of falls, the rope is pulled into the braking unit of the device which brakes the rope incrementally rather than abruptly, so it can be controlled and recovered
- "Makes the belayer 25kg heavier"
- Locking system prevents accidental opening and makes it easier to insert rope and remove the device when lowering
Specifications:
- Min. belayer weight: 40kg
- For single ropes from 8.9-11.0mm
- Manual
- Weight: 450g
